Let me say it does that job, because it is very well padded,I have dropped the case with the hard drive a considerable amount of times, set things on it by accident and nothing was wrong with either the case or the hard drive. If you are looking for a case that will keep your portable hard drive safe, I would highly recommend this particular one, since it works and comes in a variety of colors.
