The drive failed after one day of use. It was able
to backup 70GB via the Mac Time Machine. The next day it was completely dead (no power light, no sound).
I tried several computers. It was not dropped or put to excessive use. I was also unable to make the FireWire 800
work, only the 400 FireWire was working. The back of the case is also
confusing since it has two connectors marked as FireWire 800, although the documentation
(all on dvd, nothing on paper) shows a FireWire 400 and a FireWire 800 connector. Also,
the connectors were not holding tightly in the back but could easily wiggle left and
right (perhaps that's the main problem). The unit has also no power supply provided and indeed when
the USB 2.0 cable was tried, the iMac complained that the USB device was trying to
draw too much power. In summary, nothing much worked properly for me. Bad unit I guess.
